About the Item

Impressive and highly decorative pair of late 19th century French gilt bronze wall sconces, executed in the Regency taste with dramatic scale and richly sculpted ornamentation. Each sconce is mounted on a mirrored backplate, enhancing light reflection and creating a striking architectural presence on the wall. The crest is adorned with scrolling acanthus leaves framing a classical female mask crowned with radiating solar rays, while delicately modeled fruiting branches drape beneath the crown, adding movement and depth. Below, the sconce opens into a grand arrangement of seven arms of light, with the central arm emerging from a shell-form cartouche, and the lower section finished with a draped motif decorated with pompons, ending in an elegant pendant finial.
