Mid-Century Danish Model Pirat Metal Outdoor Wall Lamp by Eva Koppel, Nils Koppel, Gert Edstrand for Nordisk Solar, 1960s
Robust outdoor wall light from Danish manufacturer Nordisk Solar.
The Pirat is inspired by a functional, maritime design language. The frame grille is made of thick cast aluminum and serves to physically protect the hood. The hood is made of polycarbonate. The wider part of a strut in the middle serves to protect against glare from the front caused by the light source. The light is IP54 protected for outdoor use. In this version, the hood has a cover on one side. This is variable and, depending on the orientation of the hood, can provide uplight, downlight, or side light.
The luminaire is in good condition with signs of wear and patina. Polished surface. One thread is damaged, but this has no major impact.
