About the Item

The 1960s plafond made of iridescent glass with a flower motif is a striking example of modernist decorative design of that era. It combines utilitarian function with organic ornamentation, characteristic of lighting of the post-war modernism period - with influences of both art déco style and retro-futuristic aesthetics of the 1960s. Coating the glass with a layer of metal oxides, gives the surface a pearly, iridescent sheen - it shimmers with shades of pink, gold depending on the angle of light. The effect is often compared to a pearl shell or flower petals bathed in morning dew. The pattern on the glass shade is convex, radiating from the center - resembling a rosette . The combination of iridescent glass and floral motif gives the plafond a soft, romantic character. This plafond is an excellent example of affordable, decorative design of the 1960s, It is not only a functional source of light, but also a nostalgic stylistic accent that can give warmth, softness and elegance to the interior.
