A charming pair of mid-century Italian wall sconces with a neoclassical urn form and rare hand-crafted porcelain roses in soft pink tones. Elegant gilt accents, original candle sleeves and a beautiful aged patina. Italy, circa 1955–1965.
A refined pair of mid-century Italian wall sconces, crafted between 1955 and 1965, where fine metalwork meets traditional porcelain artistry. The bodies are shaped as classical urns with vertical ribbing and subtle gilding, reflecting the neoclassical revival style that was popular in Italy during this period.
Above the urn rises a delicate arrangement of hand-modelled porcelain roses, executed in the Capodimonte tradition. Each rose is formed petal by petal, fired, and then hand-painted in layered shades of soft pink. The gentle sheen of the porcelain contrasts beautifully with the matte cream finish of the metal frame.
The curved arms, original candle sleeves and scalloped bobeches add elegance and movement, giving the sconces a romantic, almost poetic presence. The combination of metal and genuine porcelain flowers places these pieces in a higher category of mid-century Italian decorative arts.
They are perfect for bedrooms, dressing rooms, boutique hotels and refined interiors where a soft, romantic accent is desired.
