Mid-Century Modern vintage gold and white three ( 3 ) sconces or wall lights from metal with gilded details and solid brass masks, Italy 1940s.
The rare and beautiful hand made sconces were designed in Italy 1940s.
The sconces or wall lights made from metal and show repainted and gilded details while each sconce features two E 14 sockets.
Each sconce or wall lighting has two slightly curved arms with original brass masks and a wonderful decoration as a ribbon with gilded edges.
We bought these gorgeous sconces from a private source, who told us, that these sconces illuminated a theater in Milano.
In Commedia dell´arte the masks show the opposites like good and bad or comedy and tragic.
Commedia is a form of theatre characterized by masked types which started in Italy in the 16th century.
The characters of the Commedia dell´arte usually represent fixed social types and characters, like Arlecchino or Colombina.
In the 20th century commedia dell´arte was rediscovered and revitalized.
These stunning sconces are in best overall vintage condition, while the surface is refinished.
The sconces or wall lights work perfect with Mid-Century Modern interior as well as Contemporary interior and Hollywood Regency.
