About the Item
Dutch Mid-Century wall sconce model NX 179 by renowned manufacturer Philips, produced in the 1960s. The design is attributed to Louis Kalff, Philips' chief designer who shaped the company's lighting aesthetic throughout the Mid-Century era. The sconce features a spherical rose-colored blown glass globe shade that creates warm, diffused ambient light.
The globe mounts on a black enameled metal wall bracket with a distinctive slatted socket design that adds architectural detail to the modernist form. The cylindrical socket features horizontal ribbing that creates visual interest while maintaining the clean geometric lines characteristic of Dutch design from this period. The black enamel finish provides striking contrast against the soft rose glass.
