About the Item
A refined pair of Italian wall sconces from the 1950s, distinguished by an elegant and compact silhouette. Each sconce features a small circular wall plate in black-lacquered metal with a brass rim, measuring 7 cm in diameter (approximately 2.75 inches). From the center extends a short brass arm supporting a tapered black-lacquered metal socket holder.
The light is diffused through elongated teardrop-shaped opaline glass shades, which soften the illumination and create a warm, atmospheric glow. The combination of slender proportions and restrained materials results in a design that is both decorative and discreet, well suited to intimate architectural settings such as hallways, bedrooms, or accent walls.
The metal surfaces show a natural patina consistent with age. The brass elements display gentle oxidation and tonal variation, while the black lacquer shows minor wear and small losses in places, visible upon close inspection.
