About the Item
An elegant pair of antique European wall sconces, each featuring a richly worked silvered metal backplate centered with a classical figural medallion. The shaped backplates are surrounded by deeply cast foliate and floral relief, lending strong decorative presence and depth.
Each sconce is fitted with scrolling candle arms terminating in shaped drip pans and candle cups, designed for three lights per sconce. The sculptural arms extend gracefully from the backplate, balancing the figural imagery with refined architectural symmetry.
The silvered surface has aged beautifully, retaining a soft patina with tonal variation consistent with age and use. Decorative and substantial, these sconces are well suited for flanking a mirror, doorway, or fireplace, and work seamlessly in both traditional and layered, collected interiors.
