About the Item

Rare and historically significant pair of bronze wall lamps designed by Carl Harald Brummer (1864–1953) for the Royal Danish Yacht Dannebrog, circa 1913. These lamps were created for the original interior of the yacht, which has served the Danish Royal Family for over a century. Crafted in solid bronze, the lamps reflect Brummer’s signature architectural style, combining restrained neoclassical elegance with a sense of regal dignity. Their form demonstrates both functional sophistication and decorative refinement, qualities that defined Brummer’s work during this period. Carl Brummer was one of Denmark’s leading architects of the early 20th century, known for his private villas, civic buildings, and furniture designs. His role in designing fixtures for the Royal Yacht underscores his position as a trusted designer for prestigious commissions at the highest level. Royal provenance of this kind is exceedingly rare in Scandinavian decorative arts. These lamps not only represent exceptional Danish craftsmanship but also offer a tangible link to the maritime history of the Danish monarchy. Pieces from the Royal Yacht seldom appear on the market, making this pair highly collectible for museums and serious collectors alike. Provenance: The Royal Danish Yacht Dannebrog, commissioned in 1879 and rebuilt in 1931.
