Pair of Monumental French Gothic Revival Wall Sconces in the Shape of Battle Axes, Wrought Iron, circa 1950
Impressive pair of large-scale French Gothic Revival wall sconces, hand-forged in wrought iron and mounted on wooden backplates. Designed in the dramatic shape of medieval double-bladed battle axes with spear finials, these torch-like sconces bring a strong architectural presence and historic atmosphere.
Each sconce features leafy wrought iron details, hammered surfaces, and dark patina, enhancing their authentic medieval character. The lights are fitted with two E14 sockets each, still retaining their original faux-candle sleeves in green.
These rare statement sconces would be a striking addition to a castle interior, hunting lodge, grand hallway, or eclectic design project in need of dramatic medieval style lighting.
