About the Item
The pair of apliques is made of iron and gold plate. The decorations are floral, with flowers resembling dahlias, and vegetal, with acanthus leaves.
Apliques were once found in palaces, corridors, and great halls to illuminate the sides (where centrally, lighting was provided by chandeliers instead).
What were originally candle holders now have decorative candle-shaped elements to hold light bulbs instead.
The production area is upper Italy, more specifically Piedmont. Instead, the time placement corresponds to the 18th century.
