About the Item
An extremely decorative pair of Italian early 19th century Louis XIV st. patinated and Giltwood sconces. Each wonderfully detailed two arm candle sconce is set on a faux painted Porphyr backplate with concave corners and surrounded by a mottled Giltwood border. Each sconce showcases a central Giltwood mask flanked by large scale pierced palmettes to each side and above, while stunning and wonderfully decorative vines with scrolled foliage accent the frame. Above each mask are the two unelectrified and removable reeded arms adorned with acanthus leaves and leading to the foliate candle cups and glass saucers. All original gilt and patina throughout.
