About the Item
These elegant wall sconces were hand-carved in Italy. They have been wired to serve as lamps and feature sumptuously hand painted shades. The whole is composted of intricately carved gilt wood: From the corn garland at the base, to the scrolling arms, to the crown of wheat at the apex. The artist that designed these pieces was calling on Italy's Roman heritage and the roman goddess of grain, Ceres. Just as Ceres symbolized fertility and abundance so too do these opulent sconces.
