About the Item
Sculptural acanthus ornaments in traditional fibre-reinforced plaster, France circa 1900. Easily convertible into wall lights. Price is for the pair.
A highly decorative pair of large sculpted acanthus ornaments, originally conceived as architectural elements for an elegant French interior around 1890 to 1910. Hand-modelled in classic plaster reinforced with natural fibres, they show the rich surface and flowing movement characteristic of late Neoclassical and Belle Époque design.
Today they make striking wall lights. Wiring can be routed invisibly behind the ornaments, creating a dramatic uplight or a warm downlight, depending on installation preference. Their generous proportions give them real presence, ideal for grand entrances, sophisticated classical interiors, or above a significant mirror.
A rare decorative pair with authentic traces of age.
