About the Item

A rare pair of Model 121 appliques designed by Gino Sarfatti for Arteluce, Italy, c.1946. These adjustable wall lights consist of a perforated brass fitting that is suspended with two side arms and brass wing-nuts for tightening and securing. The tapered cream coloured painted-aluminium reflector can be adjusted vertically allowing the direction of light to be easily modified. The design is minimal and direct, emphasising utility, proportion, and clarity of form—qualities that define Sarfatti’s early work and his background in engineering. The exposed wire was an intentional part of its original design...Sarfatti often left electrical components visible rather than concealed, reflecting both material economy and his functional approach to lighting. These wall sconces retain their original 'Arteluce' labels and have been completely re-wired, ready for installation.
