Pair of neoclassical style gilt bronze sconces
French, late 19th century
Measures: Height 74cm, width 43cm, depth 34cm
This fine pair of sconces is crafted from gilt bronze in the neoclassical style. Each sconce supports three light branches, the branches applied with rich foliate detailing. The branches issue from the gilt bronze backplate, which is finished below with acanthus leaf detailing and is mounted above with a classical urn-form finial. The pair is a superb example of 19th century French Neoclassicism.
