About the Item

Pietro Chiesa for Fontana Arte rare and exquisite pair of large two-light sconces model 1537 consisting of conical satin or acid-etched glass topped with brass framed round frosted glass diffusers, and mounted on lacquered brass structures on original backplates. This model sconce usually doesn't have these top brass framed discs which were probably custom ordered with the lights by the original owner but add a lovely accent to the sconces. These elegant wall lights emit a soft beautiful glow and will compliment any interior whether traditional or modern. Recently rewired to U.S. standards including custom backplates. Literature: 'Fontana Arte: Illuminazione', Fontana Arte, sales catalogue, Milan, p. 63 for a similar example Edoardo Paoli, 'Specchi nell'arredamento', Vitrum, no. 151, September-October 1965, p. 44 for a similar example Laura Falconi, Fontana Arte: Una Storia Trasparente, Milan, 1998, p. 71 for a similar example Franco Deboni, Fontana Arte: Gio Ponti, Pietro Chiesa, Max Ingrand, Turin, 2012, fig. 42
