About the Item
In 1907, Eino Schroderus (1880-1956) founded Taidetakomo Kuro, a metal workshop known for lighting design. Schroderus both designed and manufactured the lighting, working with a variety of metals and silks for shades. The workshop was popular in Finland and abroad, with important commissions for the Stock Exchange House and the Tampere Theatre.
This charming design functions as either a table lamp or a sconce, providing soft light through a pleated, adjustable silk shade. The brass fittings and finial are exemplary of Schroderus’ craftsmanship and have attained a gentle patina over time.
