About the Item

An exceptionally rare pair of wall sconces designed by Tomaso Buzzi for Venini, Italy, early 1930s. Unlike many attributed examples circulating today, this pair stands out for its authenticity and coherence — in design, material, and patina. Every detail reflects the unmistakable hand and poetic modernism of Buzzi: from the sinuous, fluted glass diffusers — shaped like stylized feathers or abstracted leaves — to the exquisitely cast brass mounts, which still retain their deep, time-earned oxidation. The hand-blown Murano glass features a delicate spiral texture that catches the light even when off. Each sculptural stem rests lightly in the metal collar of the mount, without screws or mechanical tension — just gravity and geometry. The mount itself is a small jewel: cast in solid brass with shell-like rosettes and a rich, untouched surface finish that was intentionally preserved to retain its original presence. These sconces have not been restored or modified; they are presented in fully original condition. Upon request, wiring can be replaced for European standards, although the pieces are currently wired to preserve historical integrity. A museum-worthy pair, ideal for collectors and connoisseurs of early 20th-century Italian design. Condition: Excellent original condition. No damage to glass. Brass mounts unpolished, as found. Wiring original; EU rewiring available upon request.
