About the Item

An exceptional and remarkably rare pair of mid-century Italian wall sconces by the esteemed Murano glasshouse Seguso, circa 1940s. Each sconce features a striking two-tier configuration with four hand-blown frosted opalescent glass shades in an organic leaf or shell form, mounbrted on an elegantly hammered brass vertical frame with a distinctive arrow-shaped silhouette. The luminous quality of the opalescent glass creates a soft, diffused glow that epitomizes the romantic elegance of Venetian craftsmanship. Each Sconce with 4 Candelabra Sockets Seguso stands among the most prestigious names in Murano glassmaking, with roots tracing back to the 14th century. The Seguso family's contributions to Venetian glass artistry are legendary, and their mid-20th century production under Archimede Seguso represents a pinnacle of the craft, combining traditional Murano techniques with the sophisticated design sensibilities of the era. What distinguishes this pair is the extraordinarily rare two-tier, four-shade configuration. The double-tiered arrangement seen here is exceptionally uncommon and represents a more ambitious and visually impactful design.
