INDUSTRIAL HEAVY CAST BRASS HOLOPHANE GLASS FLUSH BULKHEAD LIGHT Industrial Heavy Cast Brass Holophane Glass Flush Bulkhead Light Fitting, likely French or Italian circa 1940. Crafted with solid cast brass construction, this fitting promises durability and longevity that has withstood the test of time. This versatile bulkhead fitting can be ceiling or wall mounted and would probably of originally lit a hall or passageway. The knurled detail on the holding ring adds a touch of elegance and character to the overall design which unscrews to access the bulb for maintenance. Similar to its British counterpart which can be seen in our 1937 catalogue showing a a slightly more decorative fitting with identical size Holophane shallow prismatic bowl. The vintage Holophane glass their "VELVETED FINISH" which is a slightly frosted satin glass. WHAT IS A BULKHEAD LIGHT FITTING Vintage bulkhead light fittings were originally designed for use in ships, boats and other marine vessels, but have since become a popular choice for industrial and coastal-inspired home interiors. When renovating our original reclaimed lighting all existing electrical parts are removed and renewed with modern electrical components. All components used are CE certified and our lights are wired tested in line with BSEN Standards. As standard our lights come with 1m of our premium fabric three core cable to a colour of your choice unless stated otherwise in the product description. Generally, ES or BS lamp holders are used unless otherwise stated and are fully compatible with main dimmers and modern LED filament bulbs. Our lights can be wired to bespoke specifications, longer lengths, different cable types and compatibility with specialist dimming systems such as DALI can all be accommodated. Lights supplied to U.S.A and Canada are installed using UL Certified cable and lamp holders. As standard we supply round black fabric cable and E26 holders. Please note that although we use UL certified components our original reclaimed lights do not come with UL certification. Due to the antique nature of our original vintage lights, we cannot offer an official IP rating and cannot guarantee our lights for external use.
