About the Item
Born in Venice in 1914, Angelo brotto was a multi-faceted artist who challenged himself with painting, sculpture and glassmaking. He also worked as a designer, creating mainly lamps of all kinds for Murano based brand Esperia, in a colaboration that spanned over almost two decades between the Sixties and the Seventies.
The present lamp, suitable as a wall sconce or ceiling light, is indeed part of his Esperia designs. It is crafted in metal, with a chromed front and cream painted back, and has an intricate lampshade made in molten Murano glass. It is potentially a unique piece, as of course every single lamp was different from the others being entirely handmade.
It is preserved in good conditions, with just minor signs of age visible on the chrome coating, and is in full working order. The wires are ready for installation, and it has been checked by a professional electrician.
