About the Item

Pair of wall sconces in brass and metal painted black and cream white inside; they have two connections for direct and indirect light; in the middle, they have a joint that allows you to rotate them 360° according to your wishes or your furnishing needs; the two brass end plates allow you to place them on the wall with extreme ease. The wall sconces, built-in Milan between 1960 and 1963 in perfect Stilnovo Diabolo style, a product 100% made in Italy. Founded in Milan by Bruno Gatta, in 1946, Stilnovo was for years the most important reality in the world of lighting equipment design. It was a laboratory and a hotbed of ideas during the post-war reconstruction and the following economic boom. Stilnovo triggered interest from the historical publication “Domus”, to become an essential point of reference for prestigious names in Italian design, such as Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo, Danilo and Corrado Aroldi, Roberto Beretta, Antonio Macchi Cassia, De Pas D’Urbino Lomazzi Studio, Ettore Sottsass, Cini Boeri and Gae Aulenti who designed memorable pieces for this small Milanese company. What characterizes Stilnovo, in the 1950s-1960s, is the production and marketing of lamps with a particular cone shape. At the time designed by the Centro Stile Interno, they became unique pieces. True symbols of the elegance of those years. In fact, they left an indelible mark on the design and fashion industry. The brass parts show slight signs of the time, but this guarantees its age and authenticity. Warning: the electrical system is new but the wiring is European, the compatibility of the voltage in other states must always be verified before use.
