Stilnovo Style Pair Italian Sconces Painted Metal and Brass "Model "Diabolo"

This iconic and elegant pair of wall lights is crafted in brass and features two opposing shades: one with a truncated cone shape and the other round. Both shades are made from painted metal sheets, finished in white both inside and outside. Inside the shades are the light bulb sockets, while the electrical wiring runs through brass tubes that create a gap between the shades and the wall. At the end of these tubes, two round, adjustable plates are positioned to conceal the wiring and the hooks used to secure the wall lights to the wall. The tubes are connected at the center of the two shades by a joint that allows full 360° rotation, making it easy to adapt them to your preferences or interior design needs. Once lit, each wall light casts two beams of light onto the wall: a narrow beam from the smaller shade and a wider beam from the larger shade. These wall lights were crafted in a specialized lighting workshop in Milan, Italy, between 1960 and 1963. Inspired by the "Diabolo" model by Stilnovo, the artisans created a product that closely resembles the original, remaining 100% made in Italy. Founded in Milan in 1946 by Bruno Gatta, Stilnovo was for decades a key player in the world of lighting design. A creative hub and a melting pot of ideas, Stilnovo attracted attention from the prestigious design magazine Domus, becoming an icon for renowned Italian designers such as Achille and Pier Giacomo Castiglioni, Joe Colombo, Danilo and Corrado Aroldi, Roberto Beretta, Antonio Macchi Cassia, Studio De Pas D’Urbino Lomazzi, Ettore Sottsass, Cini Boeri, and Gae Aulenti, all of whom created memorable pieces for this small Milanese company. What set Stilnovo apart in the 1950s and ’60s was its design and production of cone-shaped lamps, designed by the Centro Stile Interno. These pieces became unique symbols of elegance during that era, leaving an indelible mark on the world of design and fashion. Numerous companies and small artisans sought to replicate these lamps, always striving to match the original's exceptional quality. In particular, the brass components have been refurbished and polished, and the electrical system has been entirely replaced. However, the wiring is a European standard, so we recommend consulting a qualified electrician to verify voltage compatibility before using the lights in other countries. For shipping, we use specialized packaging materials (such as wooden crates, polystyrene, etc.) to ensure maximum protection and safety for the items.
