About the Item

This “Stoja” wall lamp was designed by Ettore Sottsass for IKEA during the late 1970s, as part of the company’s short-lived collaboration with external architects and designers. The model reflects Sottsass’ interest in translating postmodern ideas into functional, industrially produced objects intended for everyday interiors. Executed in molded plastic, the lamp features a compact, sculptural form with a clear architectural presence. The wall-mounted construction provides diffused, practical light while maintaining a strong visual identity characteristic of Sottsass’ work from this period. The restrained geometry and material choice align with IKEA’s design direction during the late 1970s, when experimentation with form and colour became more pronounced. The lamp remains in very good vintage condition, with light signs of age consistent with use. No modifications have been made, and all elements are original to the production.
