About the Item

Large wall sconces designed by Carlo Nason for Mazzega, Italy 1960s. Brushed metal structure, opal glass diffuser. Excellent condition. Mazzega's origins date back to 1946 in Murano, the island of glass tradition, where the company still produces its chandeliers. Founded by Gianni Bruno Mazzega. during the 70s and 80s, the glass company specialized in the construction of lamps for a high, demanding and niche market thanks to the research work conducted by Carlo Nason and the collaboration with leading international designers, Since the 90s, has developed two collections: contemporary with design lamps for a modern environment, and classic, with classical Venetian chandeliers and sophisticated eclectic ones interpreted by important designers of international furniture. In recent years the company has specialized increasingly in the contract market made to measure, thus becoming able to produce important lighting fixtures on precise indication of the final customer. Carlo Nason was born in Murano and from an early age he observed the glass producers at work, which stimulated his creativity and imagination. His glass creations fully express his artistic sensitivity and his deep knowledge of the most refined and ancient techniques of production of this material. Nason's work is held in museums and private collections around the world. For these and other pieces of historical Italian design follow our gallery SECONDA GIOVINEZZA, we offer personalized search and restoration services.
