A rare and highly desirable Mid-Century Modern double porcelain wall sconce for bathroom use, produced by IFÖ, Sweden, in the 1950s. This exceptional example stands out for its beautifully preserved pale baby blue porcelain base, an unusually subtle and sought-after color, paired with two softly diffusing opaline glass shades.
The sconce was designed by Sigvard Bernadotte, former Prince of Sweden and one of Scandinavia’s most influential industrial designers. Bernadotte’s work is celebrated for its refined balance between functionality and beauty, and his designs are represented in museum collections worldwide. This wall light perfectly reflects his philosophy—an everyday object elevated through thoughtful form, proportion, and material.

Sigvard Bernadotte
Sigvard Bernadotte was a Swedish prince and industrial designer. He was the second son of King Gustav VI Adolf of Sweden and his first wife, Princess Margaret of Connaught, a granddaughter of Britain's Queen Victoria. Bernadotte was born a Swedish prince and was originally titled Duke of Uppland, but was excluded from the line of succession and lost his Swedish titles in 1934 when he married a commoner.
