Once guardians of candlelight in a sacred or aristocratic setting, they now cast their glow through the gentle hum of electricity, retaining every ounce of their historical dignity. The boldly turned baluster columns rise from voluminous bases upon small bun feet, each surface richly carved with scrolling ornament in the exuberant manner of the Baroque. Layers of gold leaf, mellowed by centuries into a deep, honeyed patina, catch the light with a living warmth, revealing the hand of the carver and the luxury of their original commission.
