About the Item
A beautifully proportioned pair of 1940s Spanish gilt-iron lamps, their attenuated stems and stacked spherical elements echoing the sculptural language associated with Alberto Giacometti and the French modernist ateliers of the 1930s-40s.
Each lamp stands 19.75 inches tall and 7 inches wide, supported on small baluster feet that give the bases a quiet architectural lift. The silhouettes are elegant, elongated, and primitive in the best way-forms that feel equally at home in a Jean-Michel Frank-inspired interior or a contemporary minimalist setting.
The gilding has been professionally refreshed, intentionally done with restraint to preserve the original character and surface irregularities. The result is a warm, soft, time-worn glow rather than a new or overly bright finish. Newly rewired with high-quality brass U.S. sockets.
A handsome, sculptural pair with excellent presence and strong decorative versatility.
