About the Item
Italian Portoro marble Minimalist cylindrical table lamp. This is one of the heaviest lamps for its size we have ever had the pleasure of offering. A true geometric purist marvel in a beautiful carved stone mass. We have paired this lamp with an era-appropriate vintage silk shade which is in good condition with age appropriate wear. It filters light beautifully and adds a dimension and quality to the marble base that we feel is perfect.
The partial Sonneman production label is lovely to have and uncommon. It substantiates the provenance of this to one of the key designers of the Midcentury Modern time in American lighting design.
For over four decades, Robert Sonneman has been at the forefront of modern lighting. Known for clean and modern lines, his sleek, award-winning designs have become contemporary classics and have been displayed by the Museum of Modern Art, Chicago Art Institute, Cooper-Hewitt National Design Museum, the UCLA Exhibition on Design and other important museums internationally.
