About the Item

Rare 1970s fibreglass and lace handkerchief shaped table lamp. In the manner of Georgia Jacob 'Athena' lamps, however this fibreglass coated lace lampshade is more solid and robust. Made of real French 'dantelle', immersed and coated in fibreglass, then cured to the form of an upside-down handkerchief and mounted on a marble stone base. The colour is a light teal blue with cloudy brown streak in places. The overall effect of the lamp when lit is of an upside-down structured kerchief torchière. The delicate pattern of the lace is also more visible when lit. Will make for a pleasant and warm boudoir lamp. Manufacturer's label to the base. Other features include handy on/off switch, EU socket plug and uses E14 Bulbs Max 40Watts. In very good vintage condition with small signs consistent with age. No damage. Recently Pat-Tested to UK modern safety standards.
