About the Item

19th Century English Wedgwood Black Basalt Urn Table Lamp Stunning Wedgwood black porcelain urn of very fine quality. One of the highest pottery innovations of all time is the Wedgwood black basalt. Basalt wares had, perhaps, their greatest popularity in the first half of the 19th century. The ovoid vase is decorated with floral festoons and scenes of figures in oval medallions. The exquisite neoclassical design was inspired from Roman, Greek and Etruscan originals. This beautiful vase is converted to a table lamp with brass base and brass top. It is wired for 110 Volt and in working condition. The condition is very good. Measurements: H 17 ½” x 7” diameter (base to socket) H 11” x 7" vase
