About the Item
This wonderful 19th Century Italian Renaissance style pair of large scale table lamps express the mastery of Florentine craftsmanship in the ancient art of working handwrought iron. These phenomenal hand forged and gilded iron fragments, turned into lamps, stand on a new elegantly molded dark wood base.
The iron is thick and gilded mostly with gold leaf - both signs of very old high end quality work - and features an intricately scrolled ironwork with foliate patterns and floral motifs, a pleasant curly wrought iron work formed as an opposing pair of pierced S-shaped and C-shaped scrolls elegantly draped with acanthus leaves foliate decorations throughout, all symmetrical in their placement.
The back of these light fixture pieces is just as nicely decorated as the front handwrought iron with golden hand forged iron, this allows to place these wonderful large lamps even as a center piece.
Scrolls as motifs were used throughout history starting from ancient Greek and Ancient Roman period and are always very elegant sought out.
These lamps show a high degree of workmanship, probably fragments recovered from a huge antique gate, today they will serve as a unique and beautiful architectural light accessory that Stand out anywhere from the bedroom to an important hall or placed on an antique chest of drawers in the living room.
Newly wired, we can provide lampshades on request, wall light sconce en suite available.

A very beautiful pair of antique 17th century baroque period hand-carved giltwood Italian sconces made with gold leaves technique. The corner base is finely carved as acanthus leaves with a pine as final up and down. In the middle of each sconce there is a plain gilt wood band that covers a metal band with holes in which one can put the sconce’s arm. We have just one antique and original arm per sconce but on request we can realize more arms to put on. Each ormolu socket has a very sinuous and curvy shape emphasized by a curl on both sides and embellished by a richly stylized gilt wood leaf pattern. A fully decorative scrolled floral work gilt wood bobeches. Newly wired.
The gold is in perfect condition with a beautiful original patina, the brightly gold of gilt bronze arm will made a scintillating sparkle atmosphere.
