About the Item

Pair of French Art Deco Table Lamps by André Delatte, Jarville (near Nancy), France, 1920s. An exquisite pair of French Art Deco table lamps by André Delatte, created in Jarville, near Nancy, during the 1920s. Each lamp features a mottled, double-blown glass shade in deep yellow and red hues, mounted on a finely wrought-iron base crafted by Morin Cie, 51 rue Flachet, Villeurbanne, Lyon. The handblown nature of these pieces results in subtle variations in form and dimensions — a hallmark of true craftsmanship. Both lamps are signed “A. Delatte Nancy” (the signature is faint but authentic). Measurements: Lamp #1 – Height: 15 in (38 cm), Width: 5.9 in (15 cm) Lamp #2 – Height: 15.3 in (38.8 cm), Width: 5.9 in (15 cm) Details: Rewired for your country (US, UK, EU, Australia, etc.) LED compatible Excellent vintage condition, consistent with age These lamps exemplify the refined artistry and modernist geometry of the French Art Deco period, pairing Delatte’s sensuous glasswork with elegant ironwork by Morin Cie. About André Delatte André Delatte (1887–1953) was one of the foremost figures of the Nancy School of glassmaking, alongside Daum and Muller Frères. Originally a banker from Châtenois (Vosges), Delatte’s passion for glass emerged through his friendship with the Muller brothers. After studying chemistry, he opened his first studio in Nancy in 1919, later moving production to Jarville, where his Verreries de l’Est employed many skilled artisans from Daum. Delatte’s mastery lay in his ability to blend technical innovation with artistic vision, creating pieces that captured the essence of French Art Deco elegance — vibrant colors, layered textures, and timeless forms. By the mid-1920s, his workshop employed over sixty craftsmen and competed with the most prestigious glassworks in France. Though his glassworks closed in 1933, Delatte’s creations remain highly collectible and admired for their unique luminosity and sophisticated craftsmanship.
