About the Item
Amazing anthropomorphic ceramic lamp.
Unique work, signed under the base.
Very good condition, made in the 60s
Made by the French ceramist and singer artist Maurice CAMOS ( 1941 - 2020 ).
Talented ceramist, based in Vallauris (south of France).
The youngest of four children of the painter Honoré Camos, he was born rue Clemenceau in the heart of Vallauris on September 25, 1941 into a family of artists.
Raised by his mother Anna, it was his older sister Anny, a famous singer, who had shown him the example and given him this passion for music which animated him all his life like that for ceramics. From his childhood Maurice won his first singing competitions. During one of them, he even met Mistinguett who predicted a bright musical future for him.
At the same time he had become a talented ceramist, whose original production was very popular. Her passion for singing however brought her to Paris to sing in nightclubs.
Then will naturally come the galas at Bobino, the meetings with the famous conductors Louis Ferrari and Miguel Cordo - ba and the marches of glory with the first parts of Enrico Macias, Hugues Aufray, Marcel Amont, of Jacques Brel and Sacha Dis-tel with whom he criss-crosses deep France at a breakneck pace. Singer of Jacques Valente's orchestra, Maurice Camos had returned to Vallauris to practice his trade as a ceramist alongside his mother.
