Designed by Studio Chora, Biomorphic 2 Series, 2023. Biomorphic: ‘bios' meaning life and 'morphe' meaning form. The Biomorphic series of organic light sculptures are one-of-a-kind and hand moulded from a composite paper clay and delicate, mineral gypsum plaster. The result is a high-quality compressed limestone finish, carefully burnished to a smooth-to-the-touch, matte surface in a grey cement/ concrete finish. Lightly water resistant, for indoor use only. Dimensions: Height: 19-1/2” Width: 18-3/4” Depth: 6-1/2” Description: 8’-0” clear cord. Matte with a silky-to-the-touch sheen, gray table lamp. Medium ceramic socket, LED 40W bulb in soft white (included). Surrealist-inspired, warping plaster base and shade. Care instructions: Studio Chora's lime plaster products are compressed and burnished to a smooth, organic finish. A wax may be applied to clean the surface and pull out a natural color variation in the plaster. Studio Chora is founded in the New Mexican desert. By nature, desert people are resourceful, strategizing water management and utilizing the sun for energy. Studio Chora is a product of this environment and focuses on sustainable practices by using recycled materials and second-use shipping products. Our studio is an advocate for consumer's right to repair, with products favoring repair instead of replacement. This leads to a more sustainable economy and reduction in electronic waste. About the designer: E. Silva, M. Arch., of Studio Chora is a designer based in New Mexico. Trained as an architect, her work focuses on post-Deleuzian philosophy as a critical tool for articulating gender. She handcrafts one-of-a-kind sculptures, drawings, technical and artistic visuals, pneumatic dinner parties, and augmented reality experiences.
