Lovingly handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam from an antique Boch Frères Keramis vase (Model 1118, circa 1920–1930) designed by Charles Catteau, this one-of-a-kind table lamp transforms the iconic Art Deco “pineapple” vase. We’ve paired the vase base with a new bespoke hand-pleated lampshade made from hand-woven, hand-dyed Ikat cotton-silk fabric crafted on traditional Uzbek looms. We’ve also added a matching green cord. The lamp was created without harming the original vase in any way. This ceramic vase—commonly referred to as the pineapple vase—was produced by Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, Belgium between 1920 and 1930. Designed by Charles Catteau, the vase features a repeating geometric relief pattern molded into its ovoid form and finished with a fine ivory craquelure glaze. Known as Model 1118 in the Boch Frères catalog, it reflects Catteau’s Art Deco vocabulary: bold geometry, stylized natural references, and technical innovation in glazing. The gathered lampshade...

The enamel is slightly grainy with a beautiful shine. The tapered shape gives it a great elegance. The ceramic measures 23 cm, 41 cm with the lampshade. The diameter of the ceramic is 9 cm. Founded in 1841, it markets its products under the name Keramis. The factory was founded in 1841 by Eugène and Victor Boch, descendants of a family of earthenware makers since the 18th century. Production, which began in 1844, grew rapidly. Kéramis took part in the Universal Exhibition in Paris. During the 19th century, Dutch craftsmen were hired. Charles Catteau was hired at the end of 1906 as a draughtsman (creation and painting of decorations) and quickly became head of the decoration department.
