About the Item
Amazing Fat Lava ceramic piece, East Germany, 1960s, by Scheurich Keramic ,Original lampshade.
Fat Lava ceramic base in the shape of a vase with a handle, with a rich contrast of textures, patterns, and color.
With chromatic nuances in moss green and earth brown, the glaze recreates asymmetrical organic shapes unique to its style.
With a large, conical cotton lampshade, original from the period, with an embroidered wool band that blends seamlessly with the vase's color scheme.
The name FAT LAVA comes from the thick, embossed texture achieved with the glazes, simulating molten lava.
This new technique and design began to be experimented with in East Germany after World War II, seeking to introduce color and vitality into homes. The 1950s, 1960s, and 1970s were years of great German creativity in ceramic design, displaying a wide range of colors from warm earth tones to cool shades of blue and green.
Today, they have become cult pieces, adding great creative richness to the aesthetics of a space.
