About the Item
On offer is a lamp made in a bold, abstract design expressive of the Mid-Century Modern Brutalist movement popular in the 1960s and 1970s. The lamp’s connection to this style is characterized by its raw, textured metal construction and the sculptural, architectural forms that are signature to the style of American sculptor and furniture designer Paul Evans. Not signed but attributed to the designer, the lamp is crafted of welded metal with a dark, patinated, or bronze-like finish. The design features stacked, rectangular metal blocks in a "skyscraper" or "waterfall" pattern, a hallmark of the brutalist aesthetic. As with this lamp, the metal work often has an organic, rugged texture, blurring the lines between functional art and sculpture, but it also lights your space.
