About the Item

Elegant small gilt metal wheat sheaf lamp, circa 1960s, in Coco Chanel style with intricate botanical detail and original patina. New socket and wiring as well as new pleated silk lampshade in a duck egg blue. An elegant European gilt metal table lamp featuring the iconic sheaf of wheat motif made famous by Coco Chanel, who filled her apartments with wheat imagery as her personal lucky charm. This beautifully crafted lamp exemplifies the Hollywood Regency aesthetic with its sculptural botanical form and luxurious gold finish. The lamp base showcases exceptional artisan metalwork with gracefully bundled wheat stalks rising from a scalloped petal base. Each stalk displays realistic grain texture with individual ridges, naturalistic leaves with delicate veining, and flowing curling tendrils that add movement and organic grace. The sculptural quality demonstrates the high level of craftsmanship characteristic of European decorative arts from this period. The finish has a beautiful lived-in patina with natural wear that adds character and authenticity—gentle oxidation and hints of verdigris spotting adding depth, warmth, and a sense of history. For Chanel, wheat was particularly symbolic as her lucky charm, representing wealth, luck and creativity. In her suite at the Ritz, as well as in each room of her Paris apartment, wheat made an appearance. The lamp is paired with a custom-made pleated silk shade in soft celadon blue with fine vertical shirring that complements the golden tones of the base while adding a sophisticated, feminine touch. Perfect for collectors of Hollywood Regency design, admirers of Coco Chanel's iconic style, or anyone seeking a statement piece with both historical resonance and timeless elegance. The wheat motif's symbolism of abundance and prosperity makes this lamp equally meaningful as a decorative accent and as a talisman. This piece would be equally at home in a maximalist interior, a French-inspired space, or as a glamorous accent in a contemporary setting.

Blue Neoclassical Ceramic Table Lamp, William Morris Acanthus Pleated Shade
By Morris Co., Flora Gouda
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
This vintage ceramic table lamp was handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam from a rare amphora-shaped vase by Flora Gouda, part of the Porcelina series produced between 1950 and 1970. We’ve paired the base with a bespoke hand-pleated lampshade in a reinterpreted William Morris Acanthus print, and finished it with a soft blue silk cord. The lamp was created without harming the original vase in any way. The amphora form, with its fluted pedestal and graceful curves, reflects a neoclassical influence filtered through the clean, modernist lines of mid-century Dutch design. Finished in a pale, slate-toned matte glaze, the vase belongs to Flora’s Porcelina series—developed to meet shifting postwar tastes toward muted, architectural ceramics. Its powdery surface diffuses light gently, lending the lamp a quiet, sculptural quality. The lampshade’s pleated craftsmanship echoes the vase’s ribbed detailing, while the indigo and ivory palette of the William Morris textile subtly mirrors the vase’s color story. Together, the lamp and shade create a thoughtful dialogue between classical reference and 20th-century restraint. This Flora Gouda lamp...
