About the Item
Brutalist style table lamp by Friedel Wauer for Goldkant Luchten, Germany, 1970s. Rationalist style lower structure made of veined pine wood, with an upper lampshade made of a metal frame covered with Cocoon resin. Space Age and Mid-Century style.
Very much in the style of the Spanish creations of Estiluz, which used the Cocoon resin in some of its designs during the 60s and 70s.
Very much in the style also of the Taraxacum pendant lamp designed by Castiglioni, which became very popular in all of the interiors of those decades, and still today is a very coveted object.
Very much in the style also of George Nelson and Isamu Noguchi, who used this material as the main element in many of their designs.
The Cocoon material was invented after World War II to protect unarmed warships and other unprotected items. It is made of powdered plastic and fiberglass.
For one E27 bulb (compatible with E26 bulbs). Original electric installation reviewed and fully operational. All the elements of the lamp are original. Small repair on the screen, and slight wear and tear (see latest photos).
Note: We always try to the fullest to respect and preserve as much as possible all the original elements of each piece (wiring, lampshade, finishes...) so as not to alter the original aesthetics and so that they can continue to have another life with their intact soul. That is why sometimes certain elements can present wear and tear, but they are part of the life of each piece, always providing a very pleasant patina.
