About the Item
Very rare Cuma table lamp by Ugo La Pietra for Artemide/VeArt. This collaboration is due to Artemide acquiring the Venetian company one year prior. Each glass component is blown or molded by hand, making each example truly unique. In perfect condition with original wiring, switch and plug (all tested). Made in Venice, Italy, 1992.
A lyrical beauty. Hand blown and applied birds sit atop a light blue circular top.
Takes one E26 bulb, can be easily adapted to European standards if need be.
Ugo La Pietra is an Italian architect, artist, designer, and filmmaker known for his multidisciplinary work and research on the relationship between the individual and their environment. A key figure in Italian radical design, his career spans from founding the "Il gruppo del Cenobio" in the 1960s to projects like the "Casa Telematica" (Telematic House) and later works exploring urban spaces, media, and domesticity. He is also an educator, editor, and has been recognized with awards such as the Compasso d'Oro.

Ugo La Pietra
Ugo La Pietra is an Italian architect, designer and artist and he defines himself as a "researcher of visual art". His activity as a researcher began during the 60s when he founded "Il gruppo del Cenobio" (the group of Cenobio) with Agostino Ferrari, Ettore Sordini, Angelo Verga and Arturo Vermi. It was a brief, but intense experience and they represented the only group from Milan who developed the so-called signic movement in contrast with the other cutting-edge groups specialized in pop art, objects, kinetics. La Pietra experienced the synaesthesia between the arts. La Pietra took part in more than 900 personal and collective exhibitions and he exhibited his works in the most important Italian and foreign museums.
