About the Item
A unique functional sculpture by Italian artist Davide Moretto, meticulously handcrafted in Corten steel and set with colored Murano glass fragments. The piece represents the artist’s ongoing exploration of emotional and material duality — strength and fragility, fire and light, father and son.
The Corten steel structure, hammered entirely by hand, bears the tactile traces of the artist’s gesture. Embedded within are three Murano glass inclusions, in shades of deep and aqua blue, evoking water trapped in metal. The interior, hand-lacquered with gold powder, amplifies the lamp’s warm glow, diffused through a high CRI 98+ LED source concealed within the upper recess.
“Padre” is part of a sculptural dialogue that continues with the smaller companion piece, “Figlio”. Each stands as an autonomous artwork, yet together they form a meditation on legacy, creation, and transformation.
Blending Venetian glass tradition with contemporary material poetics, Padre resonates with the spirit of Gaetano Pesce, Ettore Sottsass, and Andrea Branzi, yet remains unmistakably Moretto’s — raw, sacred, and timeless.
A luminous relic of contemporary Italian craftsmanship, Padre embodies the sacred energy of creation — light emerging from metal, memory from matter.

Davide Moretto
Davide Moretto is an artist-designer whose work sits at the intersection of art, design, and craftsmanship.
