About Degué (David Guéron) Degué was founded by David Guéron (1892–1950), a Turkish-born glassmaker who established his renowned Verrerie d’Art Degué in Compiègne after the 1925 Exposition des Arts Décoratifs in Paris. From the mid-1920s onward, Degué produced some of the most distinctive French Art Deco glass, known for its thick molded shades, bold geometric motifs, and richly textured surfaces. Collaborations with celebrated artists such as Édouard Cazaux led to some of the company’s most iconic molded-glass designs. Degué glass was widely exhibited and featured in luxury interiors of the period, including the legendary French ocean liner SS Normandie, for which the firm created thousands of custom glass panels. The glassworks closed in the late 1930s, making original Degué pieces highly collectible today.
