A striking Dutch Delft blue-and-white ceramic tobacco jar table lamp paired with a bespoke pleated vintage silk sari lampshade, newly wired and fitted with a U.S. plug included.
Handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam, this one-of-a-kind table lamp is made from an original Dutch Delft ceramic tobacco jar, decorated in the classic blue-and-white tradition. The rounded jar form is richly hand-painted with scrolling foliage and cartouche motifs framing the original “Toeback” inscription, a historic Dutch spelling for tobacco that reflects the jar’s original domestic use.
Produced by Oud Delft, a respected Dutch ceramics maker active from the early 20th century onward, the piece exemplifies the revival of traditional Delftware in the post-war period. Oud Delft is known for combining historic motifs with crisp, modern execution, creating ceramics that feel both rooted in tradition and visually timeless. The printed factory mark on the underside confirms its origin and authenticity.
The ceramic base has been paired with a bespoke pleated lampshade crafted from a vintage Indian silk sari, chosen for its harmonious palette of deep indigo, warm beige, and rich red accents. The softness and movement of the pleated silk create a refined contrast to the structured ceramic form, bringing warmth and texture when illuminated.
The lamp has been newly wired and is supplied with a U.S. plug. The original ceramic jar has not been altered in any way, preserving its integrity and collectible value.
Ideal for interiors that embrace classic European, Chinoiserie, eclectic, or bohemian design, this lamp functions equally as a sculptural object and a practical source of ambient light.

Amitābha Studio
Amitābha Studio is a husband-and-wife creative design studio founded in Amsterdam in 2021 by Davide Piai and Kimberly Poppe. The name "Amitābha" means "limitless light" in Sanskrit.
Davide Piai is an Italian craftsman with talents encompassing art, music, and culinary arts. Kimberly Poppe is an American artist, fine art photographer, curator, and interior designer, educated at Parsons School of Design and Sotheby's Institute of Art.
Together, they create functional art objects—notably luxury lighting and lamps—by meticulously sourcing and transforming antique and vintage ceramics into handcrafted designer pieces. Each of their lamps is one-of-a-kind.
In 2025, Amitābha Studio relocated to Sitges, on the Mediterranean coast south of Barcelona, Spain. While Dutch pottery remains at the heart of their collection, the move has allowed them to incorporate the rich ceramic heritage of Spain into their work.
The studio has collaborated with prestigious institutions, including Aronson Antiquairs for 17th-century Delftware and Royal Delft.
