Meticulously handcrafted from two vintage Delft Polychrome-style vases made by De Sphinx (formerly Petrus Regout) in Maastricht, Netherlands, these one-of-a-kind table lamps blend historical craftsmanship with contemporary flair. The vibrant vases showcase the rich artistic heritage of De Sphinx, a company with roots dating back to 1834, originally founded by Petrus Regout. De Sphinx was renowned for revolutionizing the Dutch ceramics industry, and their pieces remain highly collectible for their intricate designs and quality. The vases feature a traditional underglaze decoration, applied by hand using the transfer print method—a technique that allowed for the intricate multicolored detailing seen in these lamps. This process involves pressing a design, transferred from an engraved copper or steel plate, onto the ceramic, resulting in beautifully detailed artwork that would be challenging to achieve through hand-painting alone.
