Meticulously hand-crafted by Amitābha Studio from a pair of Delft Imari vases by Jaap Heinen (Heinen Delfts Blauw), paired with bespoke navy-and-gold Japanese seigaiha drum lampshades.
This matching pair of Delft Imari table lamps began life as hand-painted ceramic vases made in the Netherlands circa 1980s. The elegant, flared beaker silhouette narrows at the waist and opens at the rim—a graceful profile that reads tall yet refined on a console or bedside. Each vase is decorated in the classic Pijnacker (Delft-Imari) palette of deep cobalt, iron-red, and luminous gilt on a warm cream ground, with blooming florals and geometric panels framed by leafy reserves. The artistry is unmistakably hand-rendered, giving character while remaining visually identical for symmetrical placement.
Amitābha Studio completes the conversion with precision-cut solid brass fittings, hand-finished details, and braided navy textile cords. The custom drum shades are tailored in a Japanese block-print featuring the seigaiha (blue-ocean-wave) motif in navy and metallic gold; the pattern echoes the gilt accents and indigo washes below. Finished with couture trim, the lamps cast a soft, even glow that flatters both traditional and contemporary interiors.

Dutch ceramicist Jaap Heinen is associated with Heinen Delfts Blauw, the family-run studio founded in 1975 that helped revive hand-painted Delftware in the late 20th century. The workshop is known for preserving traditional brush techniques while reinterpreting historic Dutch and Japanese motifs—especially the Imari-influenced Pijnacker palette of cobalt, iron-red, and gilt. Pieces from Heinen Delfts Blauw remain collectible for their craftsmanship and for their role in the contemporary continuation of Delftware making.

Amitābha Studio
Amitābha Studio is a husband-and-wife creative design studio founded in Amsterdam in 2021 by Davide Piai and Kimberly Poppe. The name "Amitābha" means "limitless light" in Sanskrit.
Davide Piai is an Italian craftsman with talents encompassing art, music, and culinary arts. Kimberly Poppe is an American artist, fine art photographer, curator, and interior designer, educated at Parsons School of Design and Sotheby's Institute of Art.
Together, they create functional art objects—notably luxury lighting and lamps—by meticulously sourcing and transforming antique and vintage ceramics into handcrafted designer pieces. Each of their lamps is one-of-a-kind.
In 2025, Amitābha Studio relocated to Sitges, on the Mediterranean coast south of Barcelona, Spain. While Dutch pottery remains at the heart of their collection, the move has allowed them to incorporate the rich ceramic heritage of Spain into their work.
The studio has collaborated with prestigious institutions, including Aronson Antiquairs for 17th-century Delftware and Royal Delft.
