About the Item

“Eclisse” table lamp by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, Italy, 1970s – Orange Iconic “Eclisse” table lamp designed by Vico Magistretti for Artemide, Italy, originally conceived in 1965 and produced throughout the late 1960s and 1970s. This example features the sought-after orange enamel finish, strongly associated with the Space Age aesthetic of the period. The lamp is composed of two spherical shells, with an inner rotating shade that allows the light to be modulated—from full illumination to a dimmed, eclipse-like effect—one of Magistretti’s most celebrated functional concepts. Compact, sculptural, and playful, it stands as a hallmark of Italian industrial design and a significant piece within the history of 20th-century lighting. The surface shows minor wear consistent with age, while the lamp remains structurally sound. Electrical cord and inline switch present. A quintessential collectible design included in the permanent collections of major museums worldwide, including the MoMA.
