A striking sculptural table lamp, reminiscent of the iconic “Bolla” series designed by Elio Martinelli for Martinelli Luce in 1965. This rare piece combines organic, space-age aesthetics with the refined Italian design sensibility of the 1960s.
The lamp features a softly rounded diffuser in opaline acrylic, embraced by two vertical clear Perspex side panels that create a dynamic play of transparency and light. Its organic silhouette evokes biomorphic forms, offering a warm and atmospheric glow whether lit or unlit.

About Elio Martinelli
Born in 1921 in Lucca, Italy, Elio Martinelli was one of the most visionary lighting designers of the post-war period. After studying set design and interior architecture in Florence, he returned to Lucca, where he established his own studio. In 1950, he founded Martinelli Luce, a company that would become synonymous with cutting-edge Italian lighting design.
Martinelli’s work is marked by organic forms, innovative use of new materials such as methacrylate, and a fascination with geometry and nature. His most celebrated designs, including the Cobra (1968), Pipistrello (1965, designed by Gae Aulenti for Martinelli Luce), and Bolla series, remain icons of Italian modernism and are exhibited in major museums and design collections worldwide.
