About the Item
Rare original Sistrah T2 “Megaphos” desk lamp, designed around 1932 by C.F. Otto Müller for Sistrah Licht GmbH in Stuttgart. The brand name Sistrah derives from the phrase „Sie strahlt heller“ – “She shines brighter”, reflecting the company’s pursuit of exceptional optical performance and innovative light technology.
The T2 is regarded as one of the key lighting designs of German Modernism, blending Bauhaus-influenced engineering with a sculptural, architectural presence. Its distinctive stepped clear-glass diffuser with integrated opal rings, paired with a sun-yellow overlaid upper shade, delivers glare-free light with strong downward focus. The adjustable wing-screw mechanism allows precise control of the light angle. Hardware in nickel-plated brass and polished steel.
Conceived as an upscale desk lamp for residential and office interiors, the T2 embodies precision, clarity, and technical refinement.
This original example remains in remarkably well-preserved condition and stands as a museum-grade piece of early modernist lighting history.
